The Wolfpacker Show: NC State defeats Miami, UNC preview
The NC State basketball programs went through last week’s schedule with varying levels of success. Both squads were on the road for a couple of ACC showdowns and returned to Raleigh for pivotal home stands going into February.
After dropping three consecutive conference contests, the men’s team picked up a much-needed win over Miami at home, heating up from behind the arc and locking down the Hurricanes’ explosive offense in the final minutes.
NC State’s women’s squad ended its cold streak away from Reynolds Coliseum. The No. 5 Pack lost its prior two away games to Virginia Tech and Miami before rebounding with road wins over Clemson and Boston College. Each of the program’s last three victories are by at least 15 points.
This sets up a thrilling stretch of the ACC calendar that includes three home games in seven days. The NC State women are scheduled to host No. 24 UNC Thursday at 8 p.m. in a rivalry matchup that always carries some intensity along with it.
“I think someone called our fans classless?” head coach Wes Moore said on WKNC after the Boston College win. “Thursday night, I hope we’re real classless. I hope we bring the heat.”
The Wolfpack women’s squad follows that game up with a matchup against No. 16 Louisville, the No. 1 team in the ACC, before capping off its home stand vs. No. 17 Virginia Tech.
NC State’s men’s team plays its next two opponents at home as well — Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech.
Before this critical stretch of the ACC calendar, The Wolfpacker Show taped another basketball update, breaking down the latest storylines around both programs.
