The Wolfpacker Show: Reaction to big NC State football recruiting weekend
This past weekend, NC State football recruiting added two significant commitments. One was anticipated, but the other was a pleasant surprise for Wolfpack fans.
On3 Industry four-star receiver Terrell Anderson from Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley High picked NC State, as expected, over finalists Michigan and Tennessee. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Anderson has been one of the most productive receivers in the state over the past two seasons. He caught 52 passes for 901 yards and nine scores as a sophomore in 2021, and followed up with 64 catches for 1,254 yards and 11 touchdowns this past fall. He also added a trio of kick return for TDs this past season.
One of those special teams scores came in the state 4-A title game loss to New Bern, a 98-yard kickoff runback. Anderson also had an 85-yard TD reception in the game.
On3 in particular is bullish on Anderson, rating him the No. 82 player in the country, the No. 12 wideout nationally and the No. 2 recruit in the state of North Carolina. The overall On3 Industry Ranking has Anderson at four stars, the No. 62 receiver in the class and No. 12 in the state.
Also committing was class of 2025 tight end/defensive lineman Gus Ritchey from Pittsboro (N.C.) Northwood High. He was briefly committed to NC State’s archrival North Carolina before flipping to the Wolfpack.

Ritchey is rated in the On3 Industry Ranking at No. 371 nationally, including the No. 21 tight end and the No. 9 prospect in the state of North Carolina. He joins Columbia (S.C.) Richland Northeast High quarterback Will Wilson in already picking the Wolfpack. Wilson is rated No. 435 in the country, the No. 35 quarterback nationally and the No. 5 recruit in the state of South Carolina.
Ritchey’s impressive early offer list also included Colorado, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Washington, among others.
He can play both ways. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder had 495 yards receiving and six touchdowns last year. He added 61 tackles, including 21.5 for loss and 10.5 sacks, on defense.
