The Wolfpacker Show: NC State football vs. VMI preview
A week after NC State’s loss to No. 10 Notre Dame, the Wolfpack are hungry to get back on the field, and they’ll do it against FCS competition in the Virginia Military Institute. The Wolfpack will kick off Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside Carter-Finley Stadium, and the game will be televised on The CW Network.
NC State coach Dave Doeren said that the team will respond to the 21-point loss to the Fighting Irish, and the contest with the Keydets appears to be the perfect setting for the Wolfpack to build confidence before ACC play begins next week.
While NC State and VMI haven’t played recently, this weekend’s game will mark the 19th meeting between the two programs — the first since the Wolfpack beat the Keydets 49-7 on Sept. 1, 1946.
The series dates back to 1895, and the first 10 meetings were played outside of Raleigh before NC State hosted VMI for the first time in 1921.
