That is the subject of this edition of The Wolfpacker Show, which is the preview edition of the 2023 NC State football season. TheWolfpacker.com duo of Matt Carter and Ethan McDowell discussed many topics and covered every angle of the upcoming campaign.

Among the subject matters in the latest edition of TheWolfpacker Show:

• NC State defensive coordinator Tony Gibson and prominent players on his unit insist they expect no drop-off despite significant personnel losses from a defense that enjoyed a two-year stretch of high-quality play. Is it realistic to expect another top-25 caliber defense, or is a small drop-off more likely in order?
• What is most exciting about the defense, and what is most worrisome?
• Who will lead the NC State defense in tackles, interceptions and sacks? Who will be the unit’s MVP, breakout player and most impactful newcomer?
• What will the offense look like when NC State takes the field at Connecticut? Both Matt and Ethan agree that the answer is impossible to know given the unknowns surrounding new coordinator Robert Anae’s offense. What is known though is that Anae is likely to add creativity to the attack.
• What is a realistic outcome for a NC State offense that ranked No. 105 out of 131 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams in total yards last season? In his one year at Syracuse, Anae improved the ranking for the Orange from No. 94 to 76.
• Who will lead the NC State offense in rushing yards and receptions? Who will be the unit’s MVP, breakout player and most impactful newcomer?
• Will NC State football finish with more and less than seven wins, which is where Vegas has set the over/under?
