The Wolfpacker Show: Previewing NC State vs. Stanford, basketball exhibition recap
NC State football is back in action this weekend against Stanford, while both the Wolfpack’s men’s and women’s basketball teams returned to the court this week to prepare for the 2024-25 campaigns.
The Pack football squad is coming off its first of two open weeks, two wins shy of bowl eligibility with four games to play. Here’s a preview of NC State’s first game against Stanford in program history and a look at the basketball exhibition wins.
In this episode, the hosts discussed:
– Ethan and Noah kicked off the show by looking at what Stanford presents on the field this weekend. The Cardinal have had multiple quarterbacks play snaps, and that revolving door could continue this weekend at Carter-Finley Stadium. The Pack will likely see starter Ashton Daniels, who has the ability to be a dynamic threat in the run game.
– After talking about Stanford’s quarterback situation and its run game struggles, the hosts looked at how standout wide receiver Elic Ayomanor could be a challenge for NC State’s secondary to defend. Ayomanor was a first team freshman All-America selection by Pro Football Focus, in addition to being an All-Pac-12 honorable mention pick last season.
– The Cardinal has had significant struggles on offense this season and operates the worst scoring defense in the ACC this fall, allowing 31.5 points a game. Ethan and Noah highlighted some key players on Stanford’s defense, which could attempt to slow down NC State’s offense this weekend.

– The hosts then flipped the page to look at NC State true freshman quarterback CJ Bailey’s growth within the Wolfpack offense. It’s his team now following graduate signal-caller Grayson McCall’s medical retirement, and Ethan and Noah talked about how he can continue to develop as the season progresses. Bailey is the only true freshman quarterback in the country with multiple 300-yard passing performances this fall.
– Ethan and Noah shared their weekly predictions for the game. Who will lead the team in rushing, receiving, and tackles this weekend? What will the final score be?
– To close out the show, Ethan and Noah broke down what they saw from both the men’s and women’s basketball programs during their exhibition wins this week. Both squads are set to open the regular season with banner unveilings next week.
