NC State has a deep defensive back corps, led by senior cornerback Aydan White and others, going into the 2024 season.

This week is all about the secondary. The Wolfpacker Show, hosted by Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman, broke down NC State’s front five during the preview podcast series.

In this episode, the hosts discussed:

– Who left the secondary at cornerback and safety after the 2023 season and who the Wolfpack replaced them with going into the new campaign this fall. The Pack had six total players depart and it added key transfers to make an instant impact on the backend of the defense.

– The hosts took a look at the cornerback room first, previewing the two-deep. White headlines the group, while sophomore Brandon Cisse has become a rising star on the Wolfpack’s defense.

– Ethan and Noah talked about what they like about the cornerback room and if anything worried them going into the 2024 season about the group.

– After the hosts broke down the cornerback position, Ethan and Noah took a look at the Pack’s nickels and safeties moving into the fall. Those two positions benefitted from the Wolfpack’s transfer portal success in the offseason, particularly after spring practice with Donovan Kaufman, Ja’Had Carter and Kerry Martin Jr.

– The safety two-deep posed an interesting conversation since the Pack is unsure if one starter will be available for the season opener against Western Carolina. If that player is not ready, the hosts talked about a key reserve that has a plethora of starting experience to lean on early in the season if needed.

– Just like they did with the cornerback room, Ethan and Noah talked about the positives of the nickels and safeties and if there was anything that concerned the duo.

– To close each preview segment, the hosts took a few questions from TheWolfpacker.com subscribers about the defensive back groups and answered them. More of those questions will be available in a mailbag later this week.
