Most non-championship bowl games are supposed to be enjoyable, a reward for a successful regular season. It’s time to go to a different setting, be pampered a little bit by an overeager host committee in matching sportscoats. It’s an opportunity to add another win to the season’s total, get some additional practice time for returning players and visit a pediatric hospital or two. They aren’t supposed to be rivalry renewals.
