Tim Peeler: Looking back at NC State's trip to the inaugural ACC women's tournament
When the NC State women traveled to the inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournament in 1978, they loaded up a chartered bus and drove to Charlottesville, Virginia, to play at University Hall. It was a grand experiment for the ACC because no other women’s conference in the country had a postseason tournament. Here’s the rub, however: there was no regular-season schedule for women’s basketball that season. The story is fascinating in hindsight.
