BREAKING: 3-star OL Tyler West commits to NC State
Tyler West made his decision public last Friday night, and he is running with the Wolfpack. The three-star offensive lineman committed to NC State over Georgia Tech, Duke and others, per Justin Fitzgerald from Cherokee Scout.
A back and forth recruitment that included strong pushes from both the Blue Devils and the Yellow Jackets ended with a commitment to the Pack. His decision came down to NC State and Georgia Tech.
The Wolfpack is recruiting him to play tackle, but he has the versatility to play all over the line. He was the final uncommitted offensive line prospect on the program’s 2024 recruiting board.
After emerging as one of the state’s top linemen, the 6-5, 275-pound prospect from Andrews (NC) High took June officials to NC State and Duke. West also took a pair of unofficial trips to Georgia Tech this summer. His final visit prior to the decision was to see the Yellow Jackets July 28.

Earlier in his recruiting process, the lineman said his commitment would come down to where he felt at home and where he can make a significant impact on a program. NC State offensive line coach Garett Tujague, West’s primary recruiter, made him a clear priority throughout the process, and they built a very strong bond.

“Coach Tujague and I got really close over this whole process,” West said. “I think he’s an amazing coach and, Coach Doeren is a really awesome guy, too. I got to speak with him while I was down there for my official visit.
“NC State just has a really great program.”
West sees Tujague helping him become an NFL-caliber lineman with the Wolfpack.
“He just really believes he can develop me into an elite player at the college level and then even further on to the NFL level,” West said.
On3 considers West the No. 52 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 27 recruit in North Carolina’s 2024 class. During his junior season, Andrews High went 13-1 in a season that included a run to the state’s 1A quarterfinal round.
He is the third offensive line commit of the class, joining three-star prospects Trent Mitchell and Robby Martin. West is also commit No. 17 for NC State’s 2024 class and the fifth prospect to join the program in August.
