‘We know what she’s capable of’: What UConn transfer Qadence Samuels brings to NC State

NC State coach Wes Moore was no stranger to UConn guard Qadence Samuels when she entered the transfer portal in April. That relationship went the other way, too, as the Wolfpack program has kept tabs on the electric guard ever since her freshman year at Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara. After all, it’s the program that developed former NC State star guard Jakia Brown-Turner, so Moore and his staff have been known to keep a keen eye on the Washington, D.C.,-area private school for possible recruits. Samuels, the former No. 41 prospect in the Class of 2023, fit the mold. Although Samuels ended up committing to Geno Auriemma and UConn, Moore never took his eyes off her development. That paid off when she was looking for a new home this offseason, as the Wolfpack was able to pounce quickly to earn her commitment May 30.
