What McNeese transfers Alyn Breed, Quadir Copeland bring to NC State

When NC State coach Will Wade formally accepted the job in his introductory press conference in late March, he already knew the type of players he wanted to retool his roster with in Raleigh. The ace recruiter has a knack of getting top talent, but Wade had his sights set on players that could help build his hard-working culture right away. “We want guys that are gritty, grimy; guys that are tough,” Wade said. “I always say you don’t put championship rings on smooth fingers. You’ve gotta get your hands in the mud. You gotta dig in there. We want guys that are gonna do that and represent who we are.” And with his first two transfer portal additions, it seems like the 42-year-old coach is right on track. NC State landed commitments from McNeese transfer guards Alyn Breed and Quadir Copeland on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, as Wade and his staff began to build their first-ever ACC roster. Both players, already accustomed to Wade’s coaching and culture, are intriguing additions that can do exactly what the veteran coach wants on both ends of the floor. Here’s a look at what NC State’s first two transfer portal inclusions bring to the table.
