It’s July, which means the NBA Summer League is right around the corner. All 30 teams are set to arrive in Las Vegas for the 10-day event that features young players looking to make their mark at the next level with others there on a tryout basis to earn a roster spot — NBA or G-League — for the upcoming season.

In NC State’s case, it will have at least three former players battling in the desert from July 10 to July 20. The Wolfpack will be represented by former standout guard Jarkel Joiner, journeyman wing Jack Clark and center Brandon Huntley-Hatfield this summer.

Joiner, who donned NC State’s red and white uniform for the 2022-23 campaign, is set to play with the Toronto Raptors. He spent the last two seasons with the College Park Skyhawks, the Atlanta Hawks’ G-League affiliate, averaging 11.4 points on 42.8 percent shooting in 24.7 minutes across 62 total appearances.

The electric guard impressed during his lone season in Raleigh as he averaged 17 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists to earn Second Team All-ACC honors and helped the Pack to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years.

Clark, meanwhile, is on the Philadelphia 76ers Summer League roster. He last played at NC State for the 2022-23 campaign before transferring to Clemson and eventually VCU. The wing, who averaged 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Wolfpack, posted a standout season with the Rams as he was named the Atlantic 10 Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Now, Clark, an NCAA journeyman with six collegiate seasons under his belt, is looking to build off his 9.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists at VCU to earn a professional contract.

Rounding out the initial group of former NC State players in the NBA Summer League is former center Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, who will suit up for the Orlando Magic. He averaged 7.2 points with 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists this past season with the Wolfpack, his only campaign in Raleigh.

The Clarksville, Tenn., native appeared in 26 games with 10 starts during Kevin Keatts’ final season at NC State. He scored in double figures 12 times, six of which came in Huntley-Hatfield’s first half dozen appearances with the Wolfpack.

This will be updated if more former NC State players sign NBA Summer League contracts.
