The Paris Olympics are 35 days away and the U.S. Track and Field Trials are set to begin Friday at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. NC State, which has won three straight women’s cross country national championships, will have 13 athletes — current or former — competing for a spot on the Olympic track and field team.

The trials, which run from June 21 to 30, will be available to watch on the NBC family of networks. NC State will be represented in seven different events over the next 10 days, mostly long-distance events.

Of the current NC State athletes, Grace Hartman will run the 5,000 meter, while Sam Bush will compete in the 1,500. Brett Gardner is set to run the steeplechase, while Xavier Branker will test the 400-meter hurdles. All four are looking for their first Olympic berth.

While there are a few current Wolfpack runners in the field, there will be nine former NC State athletes also competing for a spot in Paris.

Elly Henes and Erika Kemp will be in the 10,000, while former NC State star Katelyn Tuohy will run the 5,000 meter along with Hannah Steelman and Savannah Shaw. Gabbi Cunningham will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, while Cam Murray is set to appear in the 110-meter hurdles. Cravont Charleston will run in the 100-meter dash. Andrew Colley is the lone former NC State runner that is slated to attempt to qualify in multiple events with the 5,000 and 10,000 on tap.
