Dani Busboom Kelly has landed her first commitment as Nebraska volleyball’s head coach. Middle blocker Kenna Cogill announced on Monday, Feb. 24, that she had flipped her commitment from Oregon to Nebraska.

Oregon’s head coach, Matt Ulmer, left for Kansas’s head coaching job. Busboom Kelly replaced John Cook when he retired after 25 seasons.

Cogill is a 6-foot-4 middle blocker from Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona. She is the No. 24 prospect in the Class of 2025, according to PrepVolleyball.com.

“Due to recent changes, I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my education and play volleyball at the University of Nebraska!” Cogill said on Instagram. “This has been a dream of mine since I started playing volleyball. Special thanks to Coach Dani, Coach Jaylen, Coach Kelly, and Coach Jordan for giving me this amazing opportunity and making this dream come true.”

She averaged 2.5 kills per set as a senior for Perry, according to MaxPreps. She hit .443 with 283 total kills. The middle added 1.3 blocks per set for 151 total blocks. She recorded 396 career blocks and 778 career kills for the Pumas.

Cogill was teammates with Nebraska freshman Teraya Sigler, an outside hitter in the class of 2025. Cogill and Sigler won two club national titles with Arizona Storm. The duo were also standouts during Nebraska’s 2022 Dream Team Camp in Lincoln.

Another addition to the 2025 roster

Cogill’s commitment increased the Class of 2025 to six players. Four freshmen enrolled early and arrived in Lincoln in January 2025.

Sigler, setter Campbell Flynn, libero Keri Leimbach and opposite hitter Ryan Hunter enrolled early. Sigler, Flynn and Leimbach are playing beach volleyball this spring. Hunter is sitting the season out as she recovers from an ACL injury in the spring of 2024.

She joins incoming freshman middle blocker Manaia Ogbechie in the position group. Cogill, Ogbechie and opposite hitter transfer Allie Sczech will arrive in May to complete Nebraska’s 2025 roster.

Sczech committed to Nebraska before Cook announced his retirement. The graduate transfer from Baylor is still locked into the Huskers.

Nebraska will have senior Rebekah Allick, junior Andi Jackson and freshmen Cogill and Ogbechie in its middle blocker group.

The Huskers will have 16 players on their 2025 roster.
