Big Ten announces kickoff times for Nebraska football games

The Big Ten Conference and its television partners released kickoff times and TV assignments for five Nebraska football games on Thursday, including a scheduling shift that moves the Huskers’ road game at Minnesota to Friday, Oct. 17.

The updated slate sets times for six of Nebraska’s 12 games this fall, including four of the Huskers’ seven home contests. Notably, Nebraska’s Homecoming game against Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 4, will kick off at either 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. CT.

Nebraska’s season opener against Cincinnati will be played Thursday, Aug. 28, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, with an 8 p.m. kickoff on ESPN. The Huskers’ home opener against Akron is set for Saturday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m. on BTN, followed by a matchup with Houston Christian on Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. on FS1. Nebraska’s Big Ten opener against Michigan in Lincoln on Sept. 20 is set for 2:30 p.m. on CBS.

Huskers will play a Friday road game at Minnesota

After a bye week, Nebraska hosts Michigan State on Oct. 4 with a flexed kickoff time. The Huskers will then visit Maryland on Oct. 11, before the rescheduled Minnesota game on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. on FOX. This marks the fourth consecutive year Nebraska will play multiple Friday games, including the traditional Black Friday matchup against Iowa.

Nebraska returns home for games against Northwestern (Oct. 25) and USC (Nov. 1), with kickoff times to be announced. The final two road games at UCLA (Nov. 8) and Penn State (Nov. 22) will also have kickoff times released later. The Heroes Game against Iowa is set for 11 a.m. on CBS on Nov. 28.

A year ago, the game in Iowa City was played at 6:30 p.m. CT on NBC. In 2025, there will be a doubleheader featuring football and volleyball. The Husker volleyball team will play defending national champion Penn State, also on Black Friday.
