Brice Williams claims consensus first-team All-Big Ten honors

While Nebraska’s season ended with disappointment, Brice Williams bolstered his status as one of the program’s all-time greats on Tuesday.
The senior guard earned consensus first-team All-Big Ten honors from the league’s coaches and media. Williams is the first Husker since James Palmer Jr. in 2018 and only the third (also Terran Petteway in 2014) to make first-team All-Big Ten.
“You take Brice off this team, obviously we’re not in a very good place,” NU head coach Fred Hoiberg said earlier this season. “Just what he has done as our go-to guy. And the load that he carries every single night. I think that is the true test of who’s going to be on the all-conference teams: the guys that are that important to their team. Obviously, we’re a group, we’re a unit, but Brice is the head of it.”
Williams was at his best in Big Ten play
The 6-foot-7 native of Huntersville, N.C., finished second in the conference at 20.0 points per game this season, trailing only Northwestern’s Nick Martinelli (20.2 ppg). Williams was at his best in league play, leading the Big Ten with 20.7 ppg over 20 conference contests.
Williams’s 12 games with 20 or more points topped the league, and his school-record 43-point effort at Ohio State marked the most points scored by a Big Ten player this season.

He joined Petteway as the only Husker to lead the Big Ten and just the sixth NU player in over a century to top a conference in scoring during league play.
Williams also led Nebraska with 4.4 assists and 38 made 3-pointers and was second with 22 steals and 88 rebounds against Big Ten foes.
The former Charlotte transfer finished among the conference leaders in minutes played (36.3, fifth), free-throw percentage (.875, sixth), and free throws made (4.9, third) and attempted (5.6, sixth) per game.
No other Huskers earned all-conference or honorable mention honors. Senior guard Rollie Worster was a nominee for the league’s Sportsmanship Award.
