Callen Barta commits to Nebraska following official visit
Nebraska has landed multiple commitments this weekend from their official visitors. The Huskers have added Callen Barta from Topeka (Kans.) Seaman to the 2024 recruiting class. Barta impressed the Nebraska staff after camp just a week ago and was in Lincoln this weekend to see what the Huskers were all about. Barta is commitment No. 12 overall for Nebraska.
βI love how the whole state of Nebraska is involved with the football program,β Barta said. βIt felt like a family since the first day that I went there.
βAnd with coach Coop and coach Rhule being there, I trust what theyβre gonna do in the future and I am prepared to start the work.β
The Huskers can see Barta playing a variety of spots in the secondary, but cornerback will definitely be a great fit for him. What Nebraska really wants, is for Barta to use the athleticism that they saw from him during camp on the field and make plays for the Huskers on Saturdays.

βNebraska plans on me being somewhere in the secondary and going out there and being athletic and making athletic plays on the defensive side of the ball.β
With his commitment behind him, Barta says that itβs back to work for his senior season. He plans to stay in touch with the Nebraska staff during the month of July, but he knows that he only has one senior season and he plans to represent Nebraska in Topeka this fall.
βI plan on keeping in contact with the Nebraska coaching staff during the summer, obviously,β Barta said. βI am going to be focusing on my senior season and I am fired up to be a Husker, but I have business to handle with my guys in Topeka. I only get my senior season once.β
