Charlotte guard transfer Brice Williams commits to Nebraska
It’s no secret that one thing Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg covets as much as anything in a player is versatility.
The Huskers landed a commitment from Charlotte guard transfer Brice Williams on Wednesday, and he fits that mold to a T.
The 6-foot-7, 215-pound native of Huntersville, N.C., was second-team All-Conference USA and named MVP of the CBI this past season as a redshirt junior.
Williams only started 13 games for the 49ers but still led the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game. He shot 48% from the field, 40% on 3-pointers, and 84% at the free-throw line.
Williams also averaged 5.3 rebounds per game, including a team-high 162 defensive boards on the year.

He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Williams becomes the Huskers’ second transfer commitment of the day, joining Bradley big man Rienk Mast.
Williams was critical during Charlotte’s CBI championship run, averaging 16.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the tournament.
Other programs like Miami, Illinois, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina State were also involved. But after his official visit to Nebraska last weekend, Williams had seen more than enough to make his decision.
Nebraska now has two available scholarships for the 2023-24 season. Along with departing seniors Derrick Walker, Sam Griesel, and Emmanuel Bandoumel, NU lost redshirt freshmen Denim Dawson and Oleg Kojenets to the portal.
2023 IMG Academy (Florida) wing Eli Rice signed with the Huskers in November.
