Former Husker Kenny Wilhite is no longer part of Nebraska's staff
One of the longest-tenured members of Nebraska’s football support staff is no longer with the program.
HuskerOnline confirmed on Thursday that former 1991 Husker All-Big Eight defensive back Kenny Wilhite will not be a part of first-year head coach Matt Rhule’s operation.
Wilhite is one of the last remaining staffers of the Nebraska football department that worked for Bo Pelini, Mike Riley and Scott Frost.
He originally joined the NU staff in 2014 as a regional recruiting assistant. He was elevated to assistant director of player personnel and then to associate director of player personnel in 2015.
In February 2016, Wilhite moved into the role of Director of High School Relations and has carried that title for the last seven seasons.

Kenny Wilhite ran Nebraska’s walk-on recruiting
Wilhite was primarily responsible for handling the Huskers’ walk-on recruiting and serving as a liaison to the in-state high school coaches. He also helped manage Nebraska’s Pro Day and worked with NFL scouts when they came to NU practices
Before coming to Nebraska in 2014, Wilhite spent six seasons coaching defensive backs at Southeast Missouri State under former NU player and coach Tony Samuel. Before that, Wilhite had coaching stops at New Mexico State, Dodge City Community College, Emporia State, Kentucky State and Central Arkansas.
The St. Louis native was a standout defensive back under Tom Osborne, leading the 1991 Huskers with six interceptions. He finished his NU career with nine interceptions and played professionally in the Canadian Football League for four seasons. In 1996, Wilhite was named a CFL All-Star.
Wilhite had a listed salary of $108,237, according to the latest NU public records.
