Former Minnesota outside hitter Taylor Landfair is transferring to Nebraska
Former Minnesota outside hitter Taylor Landfair announced she is transferring to Nebraska for her final two seasons of college volleyball. The 6-foot-5 hitter was the 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year and a 2022 AVCA First Team All-American selection.
The Plainfield, Ill. native reportedly was interested in Nebraska and Wisconsin during the recruiting process.
“In the past week, I decided that Nebraska will be my future home!” Landfair said on Instagram. “I am so excited for my next journey of being a Husker and that the opportunity presented itself again. It’s a highly competitive program, and I’m up for the challenge.”

Landfair spent four seasons at Minnesota. She played her freshman season during the spring of 2021 during the abnormal season with COVID impacting the world. During the 2021 season in the fall, she played in nine matches and then suffered a season-ending abdominal injury. She received a medical redshirt.
She has two seasons of eligibility left due to the free COVID year and the medical redshirt.
At Minnesota, Landfair averaged 3.52 kills per set in her four seasons. She hit .244 overall with rates over .250 in her first three seasons. The redshirt junior recorded 3,020 kills, with over 1,000 in 2022 and 2023.
Defensively, she had 2.03 digs per set and 54 total blocks in 2023. In 2022, she averaged 4.35 kills per set and had 4.91 points per set to make her one of the best pin hitters in the country that season.
As a six-rotation player, Landfair had 78 service receive errors in 2023. The Huskers will be dialing in on that part of her game.
Landfair will be a big weapon for Nebraska at the service line as well. She averaged 0.31 service aces in 2023 and served 35 total aces.

In a post on Instagram, she said one of the main reasons she committed to Minnesota after a long recruiting process was because of her connection with Hugh McCutcheon.
“His announcement to leave the program was not expected, but we all came to understand and support his decision,” she said. “As hard as it can be, life is not always easy and there are times when we all have to make hard decisions. I will always value the years I had as a Gopher, cherish everything I learned from the program and be grateful for the support I received from every member of the Gopher volleyball program and community.”
Minnesota lost to Creighton in the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament this season. Landfair had 12 kills and hit .171 in the sweep. The Gophers finished the season 17-13 and 12-8 in the Big Ten after going 22-9 in 2022.
As of now, Nebraska will have four outside hitters with experience in 2024, including senior Lindsay Krause, senior Ally Batenhorst, sophomore Harper Murray and Landfair. Freshman outside hitter Skyler Pierce will join the Huskers in January.
