How to watch: Nebraska volleyball vs. Texas in the National Championship
TAMPA, Fla. – A champion of a historic volleyball season will be crowned on Sunday afternoon. No. 1 Nebraska and No. 5 Texas battle for the program’s sixth and fifth national championships.
The match begins on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m. CT at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The National Title match will be nationally televised for the first time in college volleyball history on ABC.

The Huskers (33-1) are the No. 1 seed in the tournament and the outright Big Ten champions. On the other side of the court, Texas (27-4) is the defending 2022 champion and has won seven straight Big 12 championships. They had a rocky start to the season but have two top-three victories to get to the championship.

The Rally: Nebraska volleyball battles for 6th National Title against defending champions Texas
Nebraska vs. Texas notes
- Nebraska leads the series against Texas 33-24. The Huskers won the last matchup in 2021. No. 10 ranked Nebraska upset No. 2 ranked Texas in the regional final in Austin, Texas. NU went on to the National Championship match but lost to Wisconsin in five sets.
- Nebraska swept No. 4 Pitt in the Final Four behind a dominant defensive performance (25-20, 25-23, 25-17). Freshman outside hitter Harper Murray had 13 kills and hit .273. Middle blocker Bekka Allick had 10 of Nebraska’s 15 total blocks.
- Texas defeated No. 3 Wisconsin in four sets in the national semifinals (25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 25-16). Outside hitter Madisen Skinner had 18 kills, nine digs, six aces and hit .227. Middle blocker Asjia O’Neal added 11 kills and a .688 hitting percentage.
- Defensive specialist Keonilei Akana spent her first two seasons at Nebraska before transferring to Texas. The senior averages 1.53 digs per set, 0.59 assists per set and has recorded 31 aces this season.
- The Final Four on Thursday set the indoor attendance record for a NCAA women’s sporting event. The previous record was 19,485 during the Iowa vs. LSU women’s basketball 2022 National Championship game in Dallas. Nebraska, Pitt, Wisconsin and Texas set the new record at 19,582 and could break it again on Sunday.
- The 2023 Final Four was the most-watched volleyball national semifinal in ESPN history. Nebraska vs. Pitt had 1.1 million viewers, which was up 49 percent from 2022. The late match of Texas vs. Wisconsin had 1.1 million viewers as well but was up 55 percent. The two matches are among the top four most viewed volleyball matches on the platform.
