Jordan Larson leaving Nebraska volleyball coaching staff

Nebraska volleyball announced on Monday that Jordan Larson is stepping away from the program. She was hired as a full-time assistant coach in June of 2023 and coached the Huskers through two seasons.
Larson helped the Huskers to a 66-5 record with two trips to the NCAA Semifinals and one to the national championship. Nebraska won back-to-back Big Ten titles and claimed their first conference championship since 2017.
“Following the season, Jordan Larson informed me that she has decided to move on from being part of our coaching staff,” head coach John Cook said in a statement. “While I am disappointed we won’t have her on staff anymore, I am thankful to Jordan for all that she has done for our program over these past two seasons, helping us go 66-5 with trips to the NCAA Final and NCAA Semifinals.
“It wasn’t easy for her while balancing the Olympics and a professional playing career at the same time, but she gave everything she had to our players and to the Nebraska volleyball program and she will be missed. It has been fun watching Jordan begin her LOVB Omaha career and we hope she has a great season.”

As one of the best outside hitters in the world, her insight was invaluable. The 38-year-old coached Nebraska’s athletes in passing, attacking and their mental approach to the game. She was hired as a full-time assistant after the NCAA ruled that sports like volleyball could have three full-time assistant coaches.
Larson will focus on her starting role with LOVB Omaha and her founding athlete responsibilities. Omaha has started its inaugural season 3-1 with the help of former Huskers like Larson, Justine Wong-Orantes, and Lauren Stivrins.
The 6-foot-2 outside hitter was a three-time All-American and a two-time first-team selection during her time at Nebraska from 2005-08. In her more than 15 years as a professional, she is a four-time Olympian and a four-time Olympic goal medalist. She led Team USA to its first-ever gold medal in indoor volleyball.
