Jordy Bahl named Big Ten Player and Pitcher of the Year, 5 Huskers on All-Big Ten teams

Nebraska softball star Jordy Bahl is the first Big Ten softball player to earn the Player and Pitcher of the Year. The right-handed pitcher earned a first-team All-Big Ten honor.
Five Huskers earned All-Big Ten honors. Shortstop Ava Kuszak and Bahl are on the first team. Third baseman Sammie Bland made the second team and the all-defense team. Pitcher/utility player Hannah Camenzind also made the second team. Haidyn Warner is Nebraska’s Sportsmanship honoree.
Bahl’s resume is littered with weekly honors. She was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week five times. She was named the NFCA Player of the Week twice, the D1 Softball Player of the Week and a Softball America Star of the Week.

The redshirt junior is the best two-way player in the country, according to Softball America. She leads the Big Ten with a 1.46 ERA and 10.1 strikeouts per seven-inning game. At the plate, Bahl has 19 home runs, 16 doubles, two triples and a .467 batting average.
At Oklahoma in 2022 and 2023, Bahl was a two-time NFCA First Team All-American, a two-time All-Big 12 First Team pick, the 2023 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, the 2023 WCWS Most Outstanding Player, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and the 2022 NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year.
Ava Kuszak, First Team
Kuszak, the Huskers’ shortstop, has also had an incredible season. She and Bahl lead Nebraska with 19 home runs each. Kuszak and Bahl are the only Huskers to have over 50 runs, 50 hits and 50 RBI this season.
Kuszak hit 10 home runs in her first 13 games as a Husker and led the country to start the season. She has 56 RBI, a .423 batting average, and a .899 slugging percentage. The junior has recorded back-to-back walk-off hits to secure a sweep over Maryland and run-rule Penn State.
The Broomfield, Colo. native leads the team with 10 errors but hasn’t committed an error in 13 games while protecting the hot corner.

At Wisconsin, she was named to the 2024 All-Big Ten second team.
Sammie Bland, Second Team, All-Defense
Sammie Bland is in the midst of a great sophomore season, earning her an All-Big Ten second team selection. She switched to third base for the 2025 season and has settled in nicely.
Bland has 40 RBI and 10 home runs, the third most on the team. She has 47 hits and 47 runs. She is close to joining Kuszak and Bahl in the 50/50/50 club. The sophomore hit a career-high three home runs against Iowa on March 5.
Bland was on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2024.
Hannah Camenzind, second team
H. Camenzind is a pitcher and an outfielder for the Huskers. She has a .362 batting average, a .638 slugging percentage and a .461 on-base percentage. The Arkansas transfer has 36 hits, 50 runs, 36 RBIs, 14 doubles and eight home runs in her first season at Nebraska.
In her 11 appearances in the circle, Camenzind has a 3.21 ERA with a 5-2 record in 61.0 innings pitched.
