Matt Rhule finalizes his Nebraska coaching staff
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule finalized his Nebraska coaching staff by announcing his final three hires on Wednesday.
Rhule officially announced the hire of Arlington Martin head coach Bob Wager as his tight ends coach and the Carolina Panthers’ Rob Dvoracek as his linebackers coach and Garrett McGuire as his wide receivers coach.
“I am proud to add three more outstanding football coaches to our Nebraska staff,” Rhule said in a statement. “Bob’s experience as a head coach will be invaluable for me, and Rob and Garret’s experience in the NFL will help our student-athletes as they chase their goals to play at the highest level. Each of the three coaches bring great energy to Nebraska and will fit our program very well. I am excited to have all our full-time assistants on board as we finish up the 2023 recruiting cycle and begin to work toward the start of spring practice.”
This announcement completes the 10 assistant coach hires made by Rhule as recruiting opens back up on Friday.
All three hires bring a different flavor to the Nebraska staff
When you look at the three hires, now that they are official, each one brings a little something different.
Wager comes to NU after being a successful high school head coach for over 20 years in Texas, compiling a record of 206-100-1.
He recently coached former NFL No. 1 draft pick Myles Garrett while at Arlington Martin. During his 17 years there, they made the playoffs every season. He also worked with the Under Armour All-American Game 10 times, serving as the head coach in 2022.
