Wager was the lone assistant coach contract that had not been released by NU.
In total, Rhule’s coaching staff counting strength and conditioning coach Corey Campbell will be paid $5.97 million in 2023. $5.52 million of Rhule’s $7 million staff pool was used for the 10 on-field coaching hires.
Under Scott Frost in 2022, the total payout to the 11 contracted assistant coaches was $5.45 million – $5.05 million without the strength coach’s salary included.
The initial terms of Rhule’s contract allow up to $7 million annually for his 10 full-time assistant coaches. The strength coach is not included in the $7 million pool, a University spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday. It’s expected that the leftover money will now be used for some of the hires Rhule has made on his support staff.
