Nebraska adds 2024 punter commit from legacy Kamdyn Koch
Nebraska has added another specialist recruit under Matt Rhule. On Sunday, Westminster (M.D.) Winter Mills punter Kamdyn Koch announced his commitment to Nebraska on Instagram.
Koch is the son of former Husker punting great Sam Koch, who played at NU from 2002-05 and started for the Baltimore Ravens for 16 seasons. He retired from the NFL in May of 2022.
Kamdyn Koch becomes the third scholarship specialist addition Ed Foley has brought in since taking over last December. Besides Koch, NU also signed Omaha Westside kicker Tristan Alvano in the class of 2023 and brought in Florida’s Marco Ortiz as a scholarship addition at long snapper from the transfer portal.
“I am honored to announce that I have verbally committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on scholarship,” Kamdyn Koch said on Instagram.

“Just wanted to thank my family, more specifically my mom and dad for all the sacrifices and encouragement they have gave me over the years. All my coaches throughout my years for pushing me to be my best. To Kirk Maggio for honing in on my fundamentals and being a great teacher. Thank you coach Ed Foley and coach Rhule for giving me this opportunity.”
Kamdyn Koch appears to be the successor to current Husker punter Brian Buschini, who technically has two more years of eligibility remaining at Nebraska.
Koch becomes the Huskers’ ninth member of NU’s class of 2024. He participated in Nebraska’s kicking camp on Saturday, featuring his father and current/former NFL/CFL punters/kickers Brett Maher, Greg Zuerlein, Alex Henery and Sandro DeAngelis.
