Nebraska adds commit from Oregon RB transfer Dante Dowdell
Nebraska added a big piece to its running back room on Saturday. Oregon’s Dante Dowdell announced his commitment to the Huskers.
The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Dowdell was in Lincoln this weekend on his official visit. He comes to NU with four years to play three.

Dowdell is originally from Picayune Memorial in Mississippi and signed with Oregon after having more than 15 Power Five scholarship offers. Dowdell was ranked 139th in the On3 2023 Industry Rankings and was the eighth-ranked overall running back in the country.
He entered the transfer portal after one season at Oregon. The Ducks return two of their top running backs in 2024.
Dowdell saw action in six games this past season, burning his redshirt. He finished with 17 carries for 90 yards (5.29 ypc) and one touchdown.
His high school career in Mississippi was legendary. He led his team to back-to-back state championships and was named the MHSAA 5A Mr. Football after leading Picayune to an undefeated 15-0 season and back-to-back MHSAA 5A state championships.
