Nebraska adds former Lee's Summit North head coach Jamar Mozee to coaching staff
Matt Rhule has a long history of hiring successful high school coaches to his staff over the years.
He’s made such moves at Temple, Baylor and Nebraska over his college football coaching career. On Sunday, he made another one of those hires.
Former Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North head coach Jamar Mozee officially announced he will join NU as a Senior Football Assistant.

“Coach Rhule, the staff, the tradition, and the fan base,” Mozee told HuskerOnline on Sunday as to why he made the move to Lincoln.
“Nebraska football is a historic program, and it’s an honor to have a chance to be a part of it.”
While at Lee’s Summit North, Mozee coached and developed some of the top players in the 500-mile radius over that period.
This follows his most recent move, on Feb. 28, when he took an analyst role at Central Florida under Gus Malzahn.

The move to NU also gets him closer to Kansas City, where his son Isaiah Mozee will finish his senior season for Lee’s Summit North. He’s currently a wide receiver commit to Oregon, but recently took an official visit to Lincoln in June and has been on campus multiple times over the last few years.
Mozee said on Sunday he did not know what his specific coaching duties would be on the staff. At UCF, he was going to work as a defensive analyst.
The addition of Mozee also opens up many more possibilities with the new assistant coach rules in college football.
Mozee will not only be able to coach on the field but there’s also the potential for him to go on the road to recruit, as a school can designate 10 on-field coaches to recruit on the road. Schools will now potentially have pools of over 20 coaches who could fill one of these 10 spots.
NU is expected to announce its new-look coaching staff in the coming days before Big Ten Media Days.
