Nebraska adds portal commit from FCS cornerback Blye Hill
A year ago on signing day, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule said don’t expect to see the Huskers ever take 10+ players from the transfer portal again. That’s not how he wants to build his roster in Lincoln. In the 2024 recruiting cycle, that theory by Rhule has proven true. The Huskers added its first player from the transfer portal this week in St. Francis University (Penn.) defensive back Blye Hill.
The 6-foot-3, 165-pound Hill has three years of eligibility remaining. He played his high school football at Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore and is from nearby Waldorf, M.D., which sits in the heart of the DMV Metro area – Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

Hill announced his commitment to the Huskers after officially visiting Lincoln before the December dead period.
“It had the best facilities and with all of the coaches, it felt like a family down there,” Hill said. “It’s a place that you want to be!
“I love that Coach Rhule’s staff is made up from guys that he’s coached with before. It shows a lot of loyalty. I think that the program is coming up!”
As a true freshman at St. Francis, Hill saw action in nine games and had 21 total tackles, six pass breakups, two interceptions and one tackle for loss.
During his time at Mount Saint Joseph, Hill had 22 pass breakups and two interceptions, including 13 pass breakups as a senior.

Blye Hill is the son of former NFL LB Leroy Hill
Hill is also the son of former NFL linebacker and 2004 ACC defensive player of the year Leroy Hill. The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Hill played eight seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
During his time in the NFL, he had 511 tackles in 96 career games, including 20 tackles for loss and eight forced fumbles.
Blye Hill will have four years to play three at Nebraska, and the Huskers are bringing him in as a cornerback.
He’s the first addition the Big Red has added from the transfer portal in this recruiting cycle. The Huskers brought in 12 scholarship players from the transfer portal a year ago.
