Nebraska adds WR commit from track star Brice Turner
Speed. When you look at some of the early offers and follows Nebraska’s Evan Cooper began making on Twitter, speed is an emphasis.
The Huskers added their 12th known commitment on Tuesday from one of the fastest high school athletes in the country.
Bay City (Texas) wide receiver Brice Turner announced his commitment on Twitter. The Husker track program had previously recruited him but recently, Turner began picking up heavy football interest. Once he got the football scholarship opportunity at Nebraska, he committed almost immediately. Secondary coach Evan Cooper was the lead recruiter on Turner.
Brice Turner runs 10.25 in the 100 and 20.97 in the 200
What’s interesting when you follow Turner’s recruiting is he’s been a key target for the Husker track program for quite some time.
Assistant track coach Brenton Emmanuel conducted an in-home visit with Turner in June. The challenge enough with track is they only have 12.6 scholarships compared to 85 for football.

Even Turner, who runs 10.25 in the 100 and 20.97 in the 200, would have to be a partial scholarship in track. When you put football into the discussion, he can still run track in the off-season and be on full scholarship.
As a senior for Bay City, Turner had 22 catches for 495 yards and six touchdowns to go along with 170 rushing yards and two touchdowns, according to the school’s MaxPreps page.
In track, Turner was the Texas Class 4A state champion in the 100 and the 200. He becomes the first true Matt Rhule commit at Nebraska. He also had football offers from Grambling State, Eastern Washington, Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.
