What we know right now: Returning chemistry will anchor Nebraska up front
While the rest of Nebraska’s offense saw significant roster changes this offseason, the offensive line returns nearly completely intact.
Center Ben Scott and right tackle Bryce Benhart are back for sixth seasons after both eclipsing 740 snaps in 2023. Left tackle Teddy Prochazka overcame another injury setback and started last year’s final five games.
The guard positions remain the biggest unknowns on the o-line depth chart, but there is plenty of experience to choose from at both spots. Micah Mazzccua joined the team this spring as a transfer from Florida. As long as he takes care of business on and off the field, he looks to be a frontrunner as one of the top guards.
The other guard spot will likely be filled by either Henry Lutovsky or Justin Evans, who boast starting experience. Lutovsky has played in the past 24 games, including two starts in 2023. Evans took over for the injured Ethan Piper mid-season and started the final five games at left guard as a redshirt freshman.
Offensive line coach Donovan Raiola has spent the past two years developing his group, and this fall could see the unit take a significant step across the board.

Biggest question: Will there be enough reliable depth?
Earlier this summer, Rhule provided a promising update on offensive lineman Turner Corcoran, whose 2023 season was ended by a foot injury. The versatile senior will be fully cleared for fall camp after trainers limited his workload during spring ball.

That’s big news for the Huskers because, beyond Corcoran, there isn’t a lot of proven depth to speak of.
Either Evans or Lutovsky will likely be the top swing guard this year, while Corcoran is expected to be the No. 1 backup at left and right tackle. After that, sophomore tackle Tyler Knaak – who played five snaps last season – is the next most experienced returning offensive lineman.
History suggests that NU will need to play more than seven guys up front in 2024, especially after injuries decimated the unit in 2023.
Will young players like redshirt freshmen like Sam Sledge, Gunnar Gottula, or Jason Maciejczak be ready to step up? There’s also a chance that the Huskers could call upon a walk-on or two if necessary.
