Nebraska flips DL Vincent Carroll-Jackson from Syracuse on NSD
National Signing Day has brought some surprises to Nebraska fans. And they can add another one to the day. Nebraska hosted defensive lineman Vincent Carroll-Jackson last weekend.
The Syracuse commitment came into the visit a little late in the weekend, but left Nebraska impressed and is choosing to sign with the Huskers on Wednesday.
Jackson-Carroll is from Harrisburg (Pa.) Central Dauphin East originally. Jackson-Carroll committed to Syracuse on December 11th and flipped to Nebraska during a signing day ceremony at his high school on Wednesday afternoon.
Choosing Nebraska
“I am going to Nebraska,” Carroll-Jackson said. “It was a combination of things for me really why I chose Nebraska. It was my connection to the new coaching staff especially coach Matt Rhule. On these visits the head coaches pop in and out typically, but coach Rhule was around the whole time, literally.
“I was around his son all weekend. I knew about his son before I even went on the visit and I also knew about his wife, and she was hanging out with my mother. That connection was immediate.

“Also, Nebraska is just beautiful. The city of Lincoln is very beautiful. I like the way the campus is there right into downtown. And I like where things are heading here at Nebraska. I think that the coaching staff is going to push hard here to be successful.”

Clear path to the field
Carroll-Jackson believes that with the new staff that they are going to be eager to put new players into the game to help them get things turned around quick. He feels that he along with the other defensive linemen in the class could all get on the field very quickly in Lincoln.
“There definitely is,” Carroll-Jackson said. “With a new head coach and a new defensive coordinator they are going to be putting people in spots that will help them win. There aren’t a lot of defensive tackles with a lot of eligibility left. I think with my size and my ability will help me out.”
Carroll-Jackson signed at 3PM ET at his school on National Signing Day.
