As the NCAA Transfer Portal entry window deadline draws closer, Nebraska basketball saw another player move on from the program on Thursday.
Sophomore forward Wilhelm Breidenbach became the fourth Husker to enter the portal after two seasons in Lincoln.
A former four-star recruit out of Santa Ana (California) Mater Dei, Breidenbach played in 42 games with two starts for NU. He averaged 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds for his career and appeared in all 32 games last season.
A knee injury ended Breidenbach’s true freshman campaign in 2021-22 after just 10 games. While he was able to make a full recovery for the start of last season, Breidenbach played just 12.8 minutes per game and committed nearly 2.0 fouls per outing.
While it was an up-and-down run for Breidenbach at Nebraska, he showed flashes of the potential NU’s staff saw during his recruitment. In the Huskers’ win over Iowa in January, he posted two points, seven rebounds (five offensive), and two blocks in the second half to help seal the victory.

“In the second half, I thought he made as big of an impact as anybody on the floor just with hustle plays,” NU head coach Fred Hoiberg said after that game. “Going out and getting second-chance opportunities – those are momentum builders and get your crowd into it.
“You saw how appreciative our fans were when Wilhelm was getting those extra opportunities for our group.”
The 6-foot-10, 231-pounder joins redshirt freshmen Oleg Kojenets, Denim Dawson, and Quaran McPherson as Nebraska’s offseason departures.
The Huskers now have two available scholarships for the 2023-24 season.
