Nebraska turned its season around with three straight gritty victories. Sunday’s home game against Ohio State was more of the same, as the Huskers battled for a 79-71 win.
Brice Williams led the charge with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while NU went 18-of-21 on free throws on the day and 15-of-17 in the second half. As a result, Nebraska picked up a critical fifth Quad 1 victory and improved to 16-8 overall and 6-7 in Big Ten play.
Nebraska trailed for the first 10 minutes of the second half. Then two hustle plays by Andrew Morgan sparked a 6-0 run and gave the Huskers their first lead since 4:38 in the first half at 50-48.
The Huskers never trailed the rest of the way, as they made 15 straight at the charity stripe to close out the game. Juwan Gary had 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Berke Buyuktuncel shot 3-of-6 from behind the arc for 15 points and six boards.
Micah Parrish did his best to keep the Buckeyes within reach, finishing with a career-high 30 points. He and freshman John Mobley Jr. (21 points) hit all 10 of OSU’s threes in the loss.
Fouls, turnovers cooled Nebraska’s hot start
Nebraska’s offense came out clicking to open the game, making nine of its first 11 shots to jump out to a 21-12 lead. However, early foul trouble threw a wrench into the Huskers’ hot start.

Gary, Buyuktuncel, Rollie Worster, and Andrew Morgan all saw limited first-half minutes after picking up two fouls each. With so much offense on the bench, the NU was outscored 20-9 over the final 10:34.
That included Nebraska, which still shot 51.9% in the first half, managing just two points without a field goal over the last 3:41. That helped Ohio State take a 39-34 lead into halftime.
Fouls were an issue for the Huskers, but the Buckeyes also converted seven NU turnovers into nine points and scored five more off five offensive rebounds.
Williams led Nebraska with 13 of his 24 points in the first half, while Parrish had 14 of his 30 to lead OSU at the break.
