Nebraska is the No. 1 team in college volleyball.

The Huskers (18-1, 10-0) were ranked No. 1 in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll but were moved to No. 2 after Texas took down Ohio State back-to-back. Nebraska has regained the top spot for the first time since then after both Texas and Louisville lost last week.

Texas and Louisville were ranked above Nebraska for five weeks but both lost in five sets last week. The Longhorns suffered its first loss of the season as they fell to unranked Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. No. 7 Pitt took down Louisville after winning the first two sets and the fifth on Sunday.

Texas dropped one spot to No. 2 in the poll and Louisville went to No. 4. San Deigo is now third in the poll, where Nebraska was for five weeks.

Husker Head Coach John Cook and his team are 18-1 and are undefeated in the Big Ten. Nebraska has won 11 straight games and has swept six straight opponents, a program record. This week, the Huskers swept No. 12 Purdue and Illinois.

The Huskers are one of four Big Ten teams in the top 10 and six teams in the conference in the top 25. Michigan dropped out of the rankings after losing in four sets to Indiana and Wisconsin. Creighton (18-3, 10-0) jumps three spots to No. 15 after they swept Villanova and Georgetown.

Nebraska volleyball battles No. 5 Wisconsin (15-3, 9-1) in Madison on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. It is a rematch of the 2021 national championship and the 2021 Big Ten championship. The Badgers won both.

Nebraska leads the Big Ten with a 10-0 record. Wisconsin and Ohio State are tied for second with 9-1 records.

“It’s just the next match in the Big Ten,” Cook said after Nebraska swept Illinois on Saturday. “The Big Ten championship is going to go through Wisconsin, it’s going to go through Ohio State, those two teams are up there, Minnesota. We’ve got to find a way to get over the hump.”

Nebraska middle blocker Bekka Allick is the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week. She averaged 3.75 points, 3.17 kills and 0.83 blocks per set with a .548 hitting percentage.
