Nebraska lands big-play WR Jacory Barney from Miami Palmetto
The very first official visit weekend in June was an important one. Nebraska got their top defensive back target and has landed one of their top remaining offensive targets from that weekend. Jacory Barney from Miami (Fla.) Palmetto has chosen Nebraska over Miami and Texas A&M in a decision he announced online.
There are few remaining spots in the 2024 recruiting class for Nebraska, but Jacory Barney certainly had one if he wanted it. The 6-foot-0 and 160-pound Barney officially visited Nebraska on June 2nd and loved everything about the trip.
The composite three-star wide receiver knows Nebraska linebacker commitment Willis McGahee IV and current Huskers Corey Collier and Dwight Bootle. The Nebraska staff sold Barney on his role in the new offense and what they could see him doing for them.
“I was the only receiver there,” Barney said. “Coach McGuire and the OC had a meeting with the offensive lineman. We broke off, and we broke down my film. He showed me how I fit into the offense.
“That was his own way of doing things. He made that little clip for he and I, one on one, and just showed me love and how I can fit into the offense if I came to Nebraska.”

Jacory Barney can see big things at Nebraska
There is an adjustment going from south Florida to Lincoln, Neb., but it’s something that Barney could see himself doing on his official visit. The town of Lincoln surprised Barney and was a significant part of his official visit.
“It was a ’10 out of 10’”, Barney said. “The school, the coaches, and the team was a “10”. Being from Miami, the town was different, and it will take some getting used to.
“I can see the family that they have there with their coaches. They have a lot of love there, for sure. Coach Matt Rhule has something going for sure. He is going to turn things around.”
Barney is the fourth wide receiver in the class for Nebraska. He joins Dae’Vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris from Bellevue (Neb.) West and Nebraska legacy Quinn Clark from Bozeman (Mont.) Gallatin. Barney is the 23rd commitment overall in the 2024 class for Nebraska.
