Nebraska lands commit from USC transfer CB Ceyair Wright
Nebraska continues to add to its 2024 roster, as the Huskers picked up a commitment from former USC cornerback Ceyair Wright.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Wright officially visited NU late last week. On Friday, he made his intentions known with On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he’ll be a Husker.

Wright is now the fifth player NU head coach Matt Rhule has added to his roster this month. He joins German offensive lineman David Höffken, NAIA player of the year and quarterback Jalyn Gramstad, running back Mekhi Nelson and Iowa Western C.C. kicker John Hohl.
Wright has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s played 23 games for the Trojans, using his four-game redshirt season in 2021. Over that time, he made 11 starts.
Wright officially entered the transfer portal on April 26 but left USC during the 2023 season. He will enter Nebraska as a graduate transfer.
At USC, Wright had 41 career tackles, six pass breakups, and one interception. Out of high school, Wright was a former Industry Ranked top 100 player in the class of 2021. He was a consensus four-star and ranked as California’s No. 5 overall high school player.
Ceyair Wright helps Nebraska address questions at cornerback
After the injury to Blye Hill during the spring, it’s unknown who the next man up will be at cornerback.
The addition of Wright makes a lot of sense, as he figures to compete against Malcolm Hartzog, Jeremiah Charles, and Dwight Bootle II, among others, for the starting job in camp.

According to Pro Football Focus, Wright played 849 defensive snaps during his three-year career at USC. He saw 623 snaps in 2022 and 202 in 2023 before leaving the team late last fall.
Hartzog saw 556 defensive snaps in 2023, while projected starter Tommi Hill played 525.
Wright is expected to arrive on campus immediately as a graduate transfer. He majored in communications at USC and has an extensive background as an actor and model.
He appeared in the TV shows “2 Broke Girls,” “Training Day,” “Life in Pieces,” “Instant Mom” and “Grown-ish.” He also played the son of NBA basketball star LeBron Jomes in the 2021 movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy.”
Wright’s father, Claudius, played cornerback at Arizona and eventually in the World League of American Football (1996-97).
Another interesting nugget is Wright is a cousin to former UCLA standout Darnay Holmes. The once-coveted Mike Riley-era target chose the Bruins over the Huskers in 2017.
