The Nebraska staff was in Houston for a satellite camp, and one of the standouts from that camp was Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek defensive back, Braylen Prude. Prude is a long, rangy safety that could add size to his 6-foot-5 frame and move down to the second level. The Huskers offered Prude following the camp, and Prude has committed to Nebraska following his official visit.

Nebraska has landed 6-foot-5 and 190-pound defensive back Braylen Prude in the 2024 class. Prude is the 10th commitment in the class overall and is the fifth commitment from the state of Texas already for Matt Rhule.

He joins Mario Buford and Roger Gradney as the other commitments in the class that are projected to play in the secondary. Prude likely figures into the free safety, post safety, and possibly even the rover positions early in his career at Nebraska.

What’s interesting to watch about Prude is where his body takes him. His length should allow Nebraska to beef up his 6-foot-5 frame and add some size. Prude’s days on defense could shift him down into the box and play either the jack or edge spots.

Prude is currently unrated and unranked, according to On3. Prude chose Nebraska over other offers from Lane College and Eastern Illinois.
