Nebraska lands Rutgers transfer guard Gavin Griffiths
Just days after officially visiting Lincoln this weekend, Gavin Griffiths knew he wanted to be a Husker.
The 6-foot-8 Rutgers transfer guard and former top-50 recruit announced his commitment to Fred Hoiberg and Nebraska on Tuesday afternoon. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
A former four-star recruit out of Kingswood-Oxford (Conn.) School, Griffiths appeared in 32 games with three starts this season as a true freshman at Rutgers. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he was the No. 43 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle.
Known for his perimeter shooting, Griffiths never quite found his rhythm at RU. On the year, he shot only 28.2% (31 of 110) from behind the arc. He averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds over 18 minutes per game.

However, things finally started to click for him toward the end of the season. After hitting two threes and scoring 10 points in a loss at Nebraska on March 3, Griffiths averaged 11.5 ppg and hit 10 of his final 28 3-point tries (35.7%) over his last four games.
Griffiths’ only other visit was to Providence two weeks ago. He reportedly received other interest from Illinois, Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Boston College.
The Huskers now have four scholarships remaining for next season after also landing Utah graduate transfer point guard Rollie Worster on Monday. North Dakota State transfer big man Andrew Morgan officially signed his letter of intent to NU.
