The Nebraska football team suffered its first significant injury of fall camp. NU head coach Matt Rhule announced Tuesday that junior left tackle Teddy Prochazka suffered a season-ending knee injury at practice Monday.

The injury marks the third time since 2021 that Prochazka has seen his year taken away by injury.

In 2021, Prochazka suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Michigan game after becoming just the 16th true freshman offensive lineman to play in school history.

Then, in 2022, Prochazka suffered an injury in the third game of the season and chose to take his four-game redshirt. He returned to action in 2023 by the third game of the season, seeing action in 10 games and starting in six.

The latest injury to the 6-foot-10, 315-pound Prochazka is another major setback for the Elkhorn South product, who will technically have just one year of eligibility remaining. However, based on his previous injury history, Prochazka could petition for a sixth-year hardship season in 2026. Prochazka has now suffered major injuries to both of his knees since 2021.

Rhule also confirmed freshman defensive back Roger Gradney suffered a season-ending leg injury this past week as well.

With Prochazka’s injury, Nebraska has plenty of questions now at left tackle

The injury to Prochazka opens up plenty of questions for Nebraska at left tackle. Assuming senior Turner Corcoran is fully healthy, he appears to be the guy for 2024.

Corcoran missed the final five games of 2023 with a season-ending injury that also held him out for the spring. Before that, Corcoran started 30 consecutive games for the Huskers dating back to the 2021 season.

If Corcoran is limited, NU will have to weigh its options between players like redshirt freshman Gunnar Gottula and sophomore Tyler Knaak at left tackle. NU also has some options in its true freshman class, such as Grant Brix.

Bryce Benhart returns on the right side, where he’s started 41 consecutive games for the Huskers.
