Nebraska middle blocker Maggie Mendelson reportedly enters the transfer portal
Nebraska middle blocker Maggie Mendelson has reportedly entered the transfer portal, according to a report by Talia Goodman. She has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore also played women’s basketball at Nebraska. It is unknown if she will try to play both sports at her next destination. The coaches of both teams had to work together to coordinate a schedule for Mendelson since the seasons overlap.
On the volleyball team, Mendelson played in 26 sets in 2023 and 42 as a freshman in 2022. She averaged 1.09 kills per set, 0.57 blocks per set and hit .225 in her career as a Husker. In 2022, she played on the right pin as NU ran a 6-2 system.

Nebraska Head Coach John Cook had Mendelson start in a couple of matches this season, including NU’s first of the NCAA tournament against Long Island. He said Mendelson works and practices hard and well, and he wanted to give her an opportunity to play. She had six kills, four blocks and hit .333 against LIU.
Middle blockers Bekka Allick and Andi Jackson started most matches for Nebraska this season. Allick will be a junior in 2024 and Jackson will be a sophomore. The Huskers will need to add a middle blocker because having only two is risky.
