Nebraska moves down one spot to No. 3 in AVCA coaches poll
The Huskers dropped one spot to rank No. 3 in the AVCA coaches poll after going 1-1 in week four. Nebraska lost its first game of the season and finished the preseason 8-1.

Stanford, who rose four spots to No. 5, beat Nebraska in the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Tuesday in four sets. The Cardinal had 23 service errors compared to NU’s 13 errors. Nebraska hit .166, its second lowest hitting percentage of the season. Stanford hit the highest of any of the Huskers’ opponents with a .211 clip.
Nebraska went on the road and bounced back against Kentucky, who dropped two rankings to No. 15, to sweep them 27-25, 25-20 and 25-16.
They came back from a 22-18 deficit in set one and won in extra points. The Huskers held Kentucky, which ranks No. 3 in kills per set in the country, to hit .141 on the match and .081 in set two.

Louisville and Nebraska switch places in the rankings are the Cardinals defeated Kentucky in five sets in Lexington then took down Stanford 3-1 in Palo Alto, California.

Five Big Ten teams are ranked in the top 10 of the AVCA coaches poll including Nebraska (3), Wisconsin (6), Ohio State (7), Minnesota (8) and Penn State (9). No. 11 Purdue is the only other Big Ten team in the top 25. Michigan, Northwestern and Illinois, who dropped out of the rankings, each received votes.

Creighton is ranked No. 22. The Huskers defeated the Bluejays in a five-set thriller in Omaha. Nebraska also swept No. 17 Pepperdine, who was unranked at that time. The Waves upset No. 8 Minnesota in four sets and Washington State in five sets this past week.
The Huskers enter their Big Ten conference play 8-1 after a big road win against a top 15 team.
They play Michigan State (9-2) and new head coach Leah Johnson on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Devaney Center. On Saturday, No. 7 Ohio State (4-4) travels to Lincoln for a top 10 matchup at 7 p.m.
