Nebraska outside hitter Ally Batenhorst plans to enter the transfer portal
Nebraska outside hitter Ally Batenhorst announced that she plans to enter the transfer portal in May after she graduates with her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. She will pursue her master’s degree elsewhere and has one year of eligibility remaining. She played in 84 matches in her three seasons as a Husker.
The 6-foot-5 outside hitter averaged 2.18 kills per set, 0.45 blocks per set and 0.75 digs per set over her career.
“Thank you, Nebraska Volleyball for the past 3 years of my life,” Batenhorst said on Instagram. “Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the unconditional support from my family, friends, my teammates, my coaches, the staff, and Husker Nation. With that being said, I have chosen to enter the transfer portal and start my master’s degree elsewhere.
“This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I have decided that this is what’s best for me personally. My heart is so full, and I wouldn’t trade my experience as a husker for the world. I can’t express how much love I have for the incredible people I have met during my time with the program. It has been truly unforgettable and the memories will last forever. Can’t wait to see what God’s plan has in store for me. GBR forever.”

In 2023, Batenhorst lost the starting job to freshman outside hitter Harper Murray and fellow junior Lindsay Krause. However, she started after Krause went down with an injury. She averaged 2.25 kills per set, and hit .189 in 2023. During her junior season, she had 52 blocks and 54 digs.

Batenhorst’s time at Nebraska was filled with highs and lows as she struggled with consistency. She had a strong stretch to end the Big Ten regular season in 2023. She hit over .200 for seven straight matches, including a .409 clip vs. Wisconsin in Madison.
At Seven Lakes High School in Houston, Texas, Batenhorst was the Gatorade National Player of the Year and the Texas Player of the Year for the 2020-21 season. She ranked the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 2 outside hitter in the class of 2020 by PrepVolleyball.com.
Outside hitter Taylor Landfair announced recently that she will be transferring from Minnesota to Nebraska. She has two seasons of college volleyball remaining. That addition was either due to Batenhorst leaving or the outside hitter decision to leave because of it.
In 2024, Nebraska’s outside hitter room will be senior Lindsay Krause, junior Taylor Landfair, sophomore Harper Murray and freshman Skyler Pierce.
