While Nebraska has been all in on filling out next season’s roster, head coach Fred Hoiberg and his staff landed a major addition for the future on Friday.

Nick Janowski, a 2024 four-star guard out of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, announced his commitment to the Huskers.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder chose NU over a long list of other offers, including Wisconsin, Marquette, Iowa State, Iowa, USC, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech.

“I chose Nebraska because I feel it is a perfect fit for my game,” Janowski told On3. “Their pace of play, defensive style, and offensive freedom are just a few of the many things that make it a great fit. Also, Coach Hoiberg has the program headed in the right direction, and I want to help take it to the next level.”

Janowski is the No. 102 overall player in 2024 and No. 2 in Wisconsin, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

He averaged 23.7 points and 6.6 rebounds this season, shooting 55% from the field and 41.6% from the 3-point range.

After only three years, Janowski is already Pewaukee’s all-time leader in made threes. He’s also second in career points, third in assists, and fourth in steals.

The lefty helped lead Pewaukee to its third-straight Division 2 state championship this past season. The Huskers’ lead recruiter on him, assistant coach Nate Loenser, was in attendance for the win.

He finished with 20 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in the victory over Whitnall.

Janowski officially visited Nebraska on March 27-28. It was one of only two officials he took, along with Iowa State. Janowski is NU’s first 2024 commitment.

He said his connection with Hoiberg and the Husker staff during his time in Lincoln was what sold him on his eventual commitment

“Their staff made it clear that I was a priority to them since the beginning of my recruitment,” Janowski said. “It was their belief in me and the strong relationship I built with the coaching staff that affirmed Nebraska was the best place for me.”
