Nebraska picks up transfer portal commitment from Stanford offensive lineman Walter Rouse
Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football team continue to build their 2023 roster. The Huskers have added over 30 scholarship players, none arguably as big as the latest.
Stanford left tackle Walter Rouse officially announced his commitment to the Huskers on Wednesday after visiting NU, Iowa, and Oklahoma.
The 6-foot-6, 318-pounder started 39 games for the Cardinal at left tackle and logged 2,552 snaps. He becomes the second major transfer portal addition Donovan Raiola has added to the Husker offensive line, joining Arizona State center Ben Scott.
Walter Rouse added plenty of experience to the Nebraska OL
In many ways, Raiola is doing what he would’ve liked to have done a year ago.
He has gone out and added legitimate Power Five starters to his offensive line. Rouse played 2,552 snaps at Stanford, while Scott played 1,776 at Arizona State.
This will completely change the dynamic of things over spring practice when you add this type of competition.

The Husker return Turner Corcoran (1,620 snaps), Bryce Benhart (1,975 snaps), Ethan Piper (1,315 snaps), Teddy Prochazka (347 snaps), Henry Lutovsky (288 snaps), Hunter Anthony (560 snaps), and Nouredin Nouili (890 snaps) comes off of his one-year suspension.
NU now goes into the spring with four linemen that have logged over 1,000 snaps of Power Five football. The big question is, will Rouse immediately plug in at left tackle? Could he play on the right side?
A lot of the puzzle probably centers around Prochazka and how he comes back from his off-season shoulder surgery. Also, do Corcoran and Benhart have the potential to play guard this spring with these additions?
Second-semester classes at NU begin on Jan. 23.
