2023 Nebraska transfer portal targets visitor preview
Nebraska is bringing in some huge portal targets this weekend that would certainly have an impact on next year’s football team. It’s hard to overlook the two, former Florida Gators that would address significant needs on the defensive side of the football. Corey Collier and Chief Borders both play huge positions of need looking at next year’s squad. Malik Hornsby from Arkansas has become a huge favorite of Husker fans. The very athletic quarterback could figure into a room that could have multiple players shelved all spring as they recover from surgery.

And while Nebraska looks for portal target fixes they are also putting the finishing touches on a recruiting class. Early signing day is on Wednesday. Nebraska has become the favorite to land safety Rahmir Stewart. A week ago, running back target Kyron Jones, a North Carolina State commit, wasn’t sure about Nebraska. This weekend he will visit and his 10.6/100-meter speed could be fun to see out of the backfield. Homegrown Mason Goldman has a Nebraska offer now and the Huskers have their hands full in trying to keep him home.

Eric Fields was added to the recruiting weekend on Thursday and quickly had people vaulting him to one of the most important, remaining targets for Nebraska. Matt Rhule was in Austin this week and visited a restaurant then went in-home with the owners’ son, Princewill Umanmielen. Umanmielen is an incredibly talented EDGE and helps Nebraska continue to open things up to bringing players from the Lone Star State to Lincoln.
Current Nebraska commits visitor preview
Nebraska gets an opportunity to bring back all of their commits that visited under the previous coaching staff. Players like Riley Van Poppel, Barry Jackson and Dwight Bootle get another round in Lincoln, but this time with coach Rhule and his staff. The reviews from other commits last weekend have been incredibly positive about the vibe in Lincoln with Rhule.
In addition to those three there are two more recent commits making their first trip to Lincoln. If running back Kyron Jones is fast, then he needs to meet Brice Turner. Turner is a Nebraska wide receiver commit who also plans to run track while at Nebraska. He spots a 10.28/100-meter time. Syncere Safeeullah played for the grad team at IMG Academy last season and had a huge season. The Huskers can see Safeeullah playing either the boundary cornerback position or possibly safety if he adds some size.
