Ticket sales for the Nebraska Red-White spring game on April 27 are off to a fast start.

Sales to season-ticket holders opened on Tuesday, while the general public received access to purchase seats on Wednesday.

A University of Nebraska spokesperson said 39,200 tickets had been sold as of Thursday morning. A year ago on this same day, ticket sales were at 36,000.

It’s also notable there has been a slight price increase for spring game tickets. Club seating is now $25 from $20 a year ago, while regular seating is $15 from $10 in 2023. Children in 12th grade and under will pay $5 for admission compared to $1 last year.

The history of the Red-White spring game at Nebraska has become a strange phenomenon. It’s a competition for Husker fans to show why they are the nation’s best. It’s a day of celebration for college football and support for the program they love. It’s also an excuse to tailgate, see old friends, and get an early look at the team before the upcoming season.

In 2019, NU drew 85,946 fans, leading the nation in spring game attendance for the second consecutive year. Last year’s crowd of 66,045 ranked second only to Ohio State, which drew 75,122.

Before COVID-19 pulled the plug on spring practice in 2020, the Huskers were well on their way again to leading the nation in spring game attendance with over 65,000 seats already sold by mid-March.
