Scoring explosion

Nebraska softball had two innings that nearly mirrored each other. On Saturday, Kacie Hoffmann hit a lead-off double to start the second inning. The next batter, Ava Bredwell, hit a double. Four batters later, Sammie Bland notched a 2-RBI single through the left. The trio sparked the Huskers to score four runs in the second.
In the third inning, Hoffmann led off again. She hit a double, and then Bredwell added a single for back-to-back hits again. And just like the second, Bland crushed a 2-RBI single through the middle.

They sparked the Huskers to score seven runs in the third to take an 11-1 lead. Six different Huskers recorded a hit, and Hoffmann had two hits and one RBI in the third inning.
Bland recorded four RBIs off two hits versus Indiana. Hoffmann went 3-of-3 on Saturday for one RBI. Hoffmann was intentionally walked in the fifth inning to load the bases.
Any batter can get hot at any time
Nebraska softball has a strong offense. They continue to prove that any batter can get hot at any moment. Six different Huskers recorded RBIs on Saturday, and seven had an RBI against Indiana.
Bland has been on a hot streak recently. Hoffmann was outstanding at the plate on Saturday, and so was Ava Kuszak, who added one RBI and two hits. Emmerson Cope crushed a two-RBI single on Friday.
The Huskers have threats up and down their lineup. Opposing teams have a powerful lineup to scout and pitch against.
In game two, Indiana started with pitchers righty Brianna Copeland and righty Jasmine Reyes switching between first base and the circle based on matchups. It did not go as planned, as lefty Taylor Hess took over for the final 2 1/3 innings. Hess gave up five hits and one run.
Nebraska needed more from its offense on Friday. But once they get hot, they are hard to cool down.
