Nebraska softball dominated Maryland in record regular-season series finale

No. 20 Nebraska softball (38-12, 17-5) swept Maryland (18-31, 3-19) in the final series of the Big Ten regular season. The Huskers secured the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which starts on May 7 in West Lafayette, Ind. at Bittinger Stadium.
On Friday, Nebraska secured a 6-0 win behind an impressive showing from Jordy Bahl in the circle and at the plate. Bahl, Sammie Bland and Lauren Camenzind hit homers to spark NU.
The Huskers won 9-2 on Saturday after going down 2-1 for the first couple of innings. A four-run fourth inning helped Nebraska take the lead, which it held until the end. Hannah Camenzind earned the start, but Kylee Magee pitched the last four innings to earn the win.
Sunday started with a lead-off home run for Bahl. She sparked the Huskers’ offense to win 9-1 and anchored its defense by allowing no hits and no runs in four innings. Magee took over and allowed three hits, one run and struck out two in two innings.

Jordy Bahl, the best two-way player nationally
Bahl continues to amaze. The redshirt junior had another outstanding series against Maryland. She gets better and better from the plate as well. Bahl has hit five home runs in her last six games and recorded 10 RBI.
On Friday on the mound, Bahl allowed one hit and struck out nine in seven innings. She went 3-of-4 from the plate and had a solo homer. The Papillion, Neb. native added an RBI-double in game two.
Bahl returned to the circle on Sunday. She didn’t allow a hit or a run in four innings. She struck out seven, walked two and hit one batter. The lead-off hitter ignited the Husker batters with a home run.
In the first inning, Bahl surpassed Ava Kuszak for the most home runs on the team with 19 homers. But Kuszak tied her up after a 2-RBI home run to walk-off game three.

A fantastic weekend at Bowlin
Two lightning delays on Friday didn’t stop Nebraska and Bowlin Stadium from having a great weekend. The Huskers swept a Big Ten team to end the conference regular season at home.
NU recorded its first sellout in Bowlin Stadium history with 3,021 fans present to watch Nebraska defeat Maryland 9-2 on Saturday, May 3. They set a three-game series attendance record with 7,929 fans.

The Huskers capitalized on the opportunity to end the regular season with a bang. They outscored Maryland 24-3. Nebraska will be rolling into the Big Ten Tournament on a heater and very confident.
They sent their seniors out with a 9-1 win on Sunday. Senior outfielder Abbie Squier laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt in the first inning for an RBI and moved a runner to third, who ended up scoring. Senior catcher Ava Bredwell recorded an RBI single. Mckinley Malecha and Haidyn Warner were honored during Senior Day as well.
Over 50 Nebraska softball alumni attended on Friday to celebrate 50 years of Husker softball. The current Huskers did a great job honoring the history of Nebraska softball this weekend.
Setting more records
Nebraska softball broke several records during the 2025 regular season. Bahl’s solo home run was NU’s 404th run of the season and broke the Huskers’ single-season runs record. The Huskers have scored 409 runs this season and counting.
The Huskers have also set an extra-base hits record with 198 doubles, triples and home runs. NU recorded its 22nd run rule of the season on Sunday vs. Maryland. They have also set the record for run-rule victories in 2025.
Nebraska has a record-high 98 home runs in 2025. The record was 79 home runs set in 2022.
Bahl became the first Husker with 15 or more doubles and 15 or more home runs in a single season. She and Kuszak moved to fourth in the Husker record books with 19 home runs each. Ali Viola holds the record with 22 homers in 1998.
The Huskers still have the Big Ten and NCAA Tournament left in the 2025 season. They are on pace to set a team batting average, slugging percentage and runs per game record.
