Nebraska spring game ticket sales race out to a fast start
Ticket sales for the Nebraska Red-White spring game on April 22 are off to a fast start.
Sales to season-ticket holders opened Tuesday, while the general public received access to purchase seats on Wednesday.
As of Thursday at noon, a University of Nebraska spokesperson said more than 36,000 tickets had been sold. It’s safe to say by Monday morning that number should be near or over 40,000.
Red-White game history
Since 2004, the Nebraska spring game has been one of the biggest in the country.
It’s a celebration of the greatest fans in college football every spring.
Before 2004, Nebraska drew more than 50,000 fans just once for a spring game. Since 2004, NU has averaged 67,848 fans at its Red-White spring game, with the smallest crowd coming in 2021 at 36,406 when the stadium was at 50 percent capacity. In 2018 and 2019, NU sold out the game.
The history of the Red-White spring game at Nebraska has become a strange phenomenon. It’s a competition of sorts for Husker fans to show why they are the nation’s best. It’s a day of celebration for college football and support for the program they love. It’s also an excuse to tailgate, see old friends, and get an early look at the team before the upcoming season.
